Derrick’s masterful insight into the relationship between writer, play and audience was greatly useful for our students. Prior to the workshop, Derrick went many extra miles to liaise with us on how he could best cater the workshop to our needs, and after the workshop he stayed behind to engage our students in Q&A and discussions.

Workshop

2 Sessions (2hrs each)

In this 2 day workshop, we unpack the underlying themes, characterisation, staging concepts and dramatic meanings in BOOM by helping students sensitize themselves to the play as a theatrical form/genre and the processes of theatre-making.

Through acting activities directed and facilitated by our director, we introduce a theatre practitioner’s perspective and help students access the inner thoughts of the characters and their wants and how it contributes to the dramatic trajectory in terms of plot and action, which will deepen their understanding of the play in the process.
